My favorite thing (right now)

I love Claudia's blog at Mockingbird Hill Cottage. She inspires me, but I don't usually DO anything about it. However, I recently finished creating a "studio" quilting/sewing room and I saw one of Claudia's posts where she had created an idea board. I figured I could do especially since it is constantly a work in progress so I wouldn't have to "commit" to a finished project. LOL

Here is a picture of it:

The FAMILY tag is because I treasure my family. The figure in the middle has a quote by Louisa May Alcott that says "She is too fond of books and it has addled her brain". I'm a librarian so it's perfect.

The blue ribbons are for some quilts I entered in the Spokane County Fair here quite a few years ago. There are some flyers and photos from the Farm Chicks Show. My girlfriends and I are the original junkers and have been going to Farm Chicks since they started having shows.

Thanks to Claudia for the inspiration!
Clara

I have to set aside time for books our they would consume my life. I love to read! I am your newest follower and hope you can visit me at Still Woods Farmhouse. We can talk books!

  4. I remember old friends from years ago. They were such a busy family with a couple of kids before the TWINS were born. Mom taught art and Dad was a computer guy. Well, they had a bulletin board a bit like yours. They would post articles they wanted to share with each other on all sorts of topics. Once they had finished reading or discussing them, they could dispose of them. I thought it was a wonderful way to keep track of the marriage in spite of daily interruptions.
I think your display is terrific and full of meaningful items!

    1. Thank you for your kind comment. I keep adding to them. I don't have something like this in my house, but I do have a white board and its where my kids and I have always written notes to each other. Sometimes--chores, sometimes--I love you to the moon and back. I have taken pictures of notes to put in scrapbooks to save the memories of a kind comment.
      Thank you!

  5. Clara, congratulations! It turned out beautifully! I really like the way you designed it and you're right, it will keep evolving. Love the quote from Louisa May Alcott - it might well describe my life as well.

Thanks so much for joining in this week, my friend.

    1. Thank you for your kind reply. I don't like it as much as I like your's, but it is coming round. I actually prefer the colors you selected, but I needed something bright for my sewing room and the red was the perfect compliment. I reused a discarded old bulletin board my daughter was going to throw out and I didn't buy a thing. I like "free art".

      Thanks!

    1. Hi Patty!
Thank you so much for your kind comment. It was fun and I used "found items" to create it. I like free art. Send me a picture when you do. I'd love to see it.

  8. Clara, I love this board! How fun to change it up now and then. I have a similar board in my sewing room with some vintage sewing advertising. I have a few ribbons I won at a local show. Fun way to display them!
